Last week I got the chance to visit GEM Restaurant and Lounge. It is from the same group that is behind Red Lantern, Scorpion Bar, and The Estate. GEM is located at 42 Province St, which use to be Kennedy's Midtown. The inside of GEM is modeled after Hotel Costes in Paris. The dining area is big enough to fit 32 people and they have another small room that is great for private events and the dancing they offer on Friday's and Saturdays. They even have a lovely bar to sit at to grab a drink or some wonderful bar bits. While there I got to sample there menu. My favorite was there home made tater tots, with shredded potatoes, onions and white cheddar cheese. Some other items I got to sample were there thin crust pizza, with mozzarella and gorgonzola chesses, lobster salad made with fresh tarragon, and griddled quesadilla with corn salsa. Their menu is reasonably prices with most expensive item being $25. For drinks they have a nice selections of signature cocktails, wines by the glass and bottle and some beer both draft and bottle as well. Great thing about GEM is that they are open late, either 1 am or 2 am. Right now they are close on Sunday's, but plan on changing that soon. I highly suggest checking GEM out, but do not forget to dress your best when you go, for their dress code is stylish/upscale. Also in a week or so Big Night Entertainment Group will be opening their newest venture in South Boston Waterfront called Empire. gemboston.com
